Cant' connect. . .

PT4 worked great, but the next day yea ol' postgres can't connect. so to save fiddling about thought i'd delete postgres and PT4 and start afresh. Thought PT4 would do 'you need postgress click here type thing. anyway can't get past PT4's can't connect screens.
seems i had postgres 8.0 and 9.0 on. so deleted them both i.e. i dont know which one i was using now anyway.

PT4 keeps saying check conf files, tho dont know which conf files to check (pt4 or postgres) or where to find em and even if fine em what to check.
panic.
if anybodys got some drastic solutions and patience feel free to pass anytips :-)

Nore can run PT3 :-( pt4 Does look good mind (when i saw it lol)

Ok, start by reinstalling 9.0 and making sure that the service runs - you can test to see that the service is running by clicking Start typing services.msc and clicking on it when it appears. Find PostgreSQL in the list and make sure it's running.

Once that's working PT3 (and 4) should be able to connect, though you might need to change the password if you installed it with a different password.

The common passwords used are: dbpass, svcPASS83 and postgrespass.

Some run onto 'stack builder', have no idea, do we need that?
some say download diginat filles and install pginstaller,. cant find it, did find some that said postgressql.x.x.x andn not pginstall. so ran it anyway, installed a postgress thing and disregarded the biniary download.

nothing is simple is it?

what's [Default locale]? it asks 'Select the locale to be used by the new database cluster.
i assume [Default locale] so am using that

seem to have two postgres things in pgADmin III, So deleted the 8. one
path is server groups>Servers(1) PostgrsSQL 9.0 (localhost:5432)
