PT4 for free. NOT FREE AFTER ALL?
Posted: Fri Aug 17, 2012 7:23 amI'm sorry I have to carry this over to the forums but things remain absolutely unclear for me after contacting the support and to be honest, I FEEL BETRAYED.
Back then when there was this promotion around ("buy PT3 and get PT4 for free") I was very tempted of course.
However, I already owned the Partypoker branded PT3 holdem version (purchased it in the PP shop), so I wasn't sure what I could do.
It came to my mind that maybe if I would just upgrade to the unrestricted version by paying with my actual money to pokertracker, it would count for the promotion, thus making me eligable for a free PT4 upgade.
I'm not the risky "try and error" type though, so because I was unsure and because this specific topic/way was no-where mentioned in the FAQ (and still looks like it isn't), I needed to get this confirmed first.
So I just asked in the "PT4 coming soon" topic and my question was answered:

I was very happy and relieved to hear that (I understood this as a promise that my way of upgrading PT3 would give me PT4 for free OBVIOUSLY).
So I went ahead and upgraded my PT3 partypokerversion to "PT3 Holdem Full".
On a side note: I DID THIS ONLY BECAUSE OF PT4. I DIDN'T PLAN TO PLAY ON OTHER SITES THAN PARTY AT THE TIME AND IN FACT I HAVE ONLY BEEN PLAYING EXCLUSIVELY ON PARTY EVER SINCE THEN. SO THE PT3 UPGRADE TO THE UNRESTRICTED VERSION IS/WAS ABSOLUTELY USELESS TO ME AND IT'S SOLE PURPOSE WAS TO GET PT4.
Can you imagine my shock now!? I just wanted to play some poker again (haven't played a while). I open my PT4 beta and I see it has suddenly expired... Ok no problem, I tell myself, I get PT4 for free anyway... So I log in but my PT4 for free upgrade is nowhere to be found on your site... I was like... what the fuck. Asking the support via ticket didn't help either and support is suddenly telling me that I'm NOT eligible for the free upgrade for some reason I don't understand, I'm just linked to some FAQ which doesn't help at all and conversation is closed by the support. Okaaay? And all that they're telling me NOW!?!? AFTER my way of getting PT4 free upgrade was pretty much confirmed by whiterider previously (s.a.)!
Also on yet another side note: I was beta testing PT4 and provided some useful stuff I think. I thought when the stable version is released I'd just download and update it as I already had a key. However I was pretty much inactive the last few months, didn't exactly know what was gong on here, and that the stable was finally really about to get lauched. so I didn't even know that Beta had ended and that my version converted into somthin like a trial version (which was very unexpected to me) and in fact, I didn't use PT4 even once within that trial-time I think, so I didn't know about it. Now it has expired and I can't even get access to my database! This means I can't backup my hands, my custom stats and my HUD which I put a hell of a ton of time into.
I have been a loyal pokertracker user since back in the days of PT2. I'm very disappointed that pokertacker suddenly seems to turn it's back on me.
I don't want to pay for PT4 after I was already convinced I'd get it for free. And what did I upgrade my PT3 for than!?
