optimal pc/notebook stats(ghz&RAM) for multitabling with PT4

Postby m1p1c1p1 » Fri Jun 08, 2012 5:02 am

hey guys

I'm just wondering what you guys think about the minimum requirement to run 30+tables at PS while using PT4! i know it's important to find the right balance between CPU(ghz) and RAM! i have a medium budget to invest and it's not very easy to find a fitting notebook to multitable!
what dou you think are the minimum requirements to multitable 30+ without having any troubles during play??
a found some options which a can afford:
notebook:
1) prozessor 2,4 ghz with turboboost up to 3ghz & 4gb RAM
2) prozessor 1,9 ghz & 6gb RAM

is either one of them ok or is it performing to bad??!!
can someone give me some minimum requirement examples?

cheers

Unfortunately we don't have specific guidelines for this sort of thing available at this time - if anybody else would like to chime in with their personal experiences, we would appreciate it.

yeah some personal experiences would be great!

i'm not a hardware genius but i think that 6-8GB RAM + 7200rpm + 2x2.5ghz should be more than enough! but i'm just not sure!

cheers

An SSD instead of a 7200 rpm hard drive with fast random write/read might speed things up also.

but what do you think about the rest?? is this enough for 30+tables?

I don't know. Never played more than 12 tables at the same time on my old laptop (Intel Centrino 2, 3 GB RAM, SSD, Win64) and that worked smoothly with PT4. But sometimes when I play one ZOOM table and watch a video at the same time, the HUD might become laggy.

Performance depends on so much different factors :geek:

Do you need a laptop? Because for the same money you probably can buy a bare bone pc with more power and better components.

do i need a laptop?! i think yes! i can not afford both and i need a laptop at university from time to time!
yesterday i informed myself about ssd. a good one costs about 300€+ and that's alot of money! this would upgrade kosts of about 50% and that's just way too much!
so i guess i have to stick with the 7200rpm and maybe upgrade to an ssd a little bit later!

the best cost to performance laptop i found in the last days ist the "Packard Bell EasyNote TS44HR-198GE" for about 600€! it is def. far from optimum but i hope it will do the job ;)

That PB has a 5400rpm hard drive. I don't know if that will be a bottleneck.
