NoteTracker Note

Postby PJs Ronin » Wed Apr 25, 2012 10:07 pm

I'm only just starting to take NoteTracker automatic notes into account when I play. In a hand today, NoteTracker took a note on a villain that I believe is misleading (I had no notes on this villain prior to this hand). Essentially, I had QQ in MP and villain had 45s on the button. Preflop I raised, villain re-raised and I called while everyone else went and got coffee. I won the hand and soon thereafter a Note appeared in the villains HUD showing:
Code: Select all
[P] 3Bet range {54s} (1)
which is entirely acurate.

However, let's assume some time goes past and I am again up against villain and check his notes to find that the last time he raised it was with (essentially) crap. In this scenario I will most likely not recall the circumstances of the noted hand and just assume that villain is very loose. In reality, villain may well not be a loose player as the button allows a vastly expanded range of holecards and in this instance I feel feel he was entirely justified in re-raising me.

It seems to me that NoteTracker needs to identify or signal in some manner those 'notes' that occur on the button as 'suspect'.

You can make this same note for each position, or for a group of positions so that it is more relevant.

notetracker imo needs to be heavily upgraded because NoteCaddy is just way ahead of it in terms of functionality and interface. Creating anything worthwhile in notetracker is super confusing and takes me a long time.

We're working on documentation and tutorials but while we're in the Beta phase functionality is subject to change so it's hard to finalize the docs.

but it's hard to test if don't know how to use it :P . (I am familiar with notecaddy)

may be even a few minutes youtube video (like the 4 you guys did to present PT4) so we can start mucking around with it (test it) would help get started

I completely agree and it might even a better idea if you could have something like a (1 hour) webinair to go quickly through the functions and answer participants questions. I am sure you do not need much time for preparation and we have a lot of questions. Such a webinair could be recorded and (re-)played by everyone participating in the Beta test.
I do not believe that you have to go over all the obvious but maybe the somewhat more complex stuff. I guess that needs to be tested some day anyhow.

Personally I would be very interested in the following subjects:
- Note Tracker adjustments / rules for Tournaments
- Working with advanced Stats in My reports
- Working with my reports (how to create a list of all players played against etc.)
- Working with the advanced filters
- Creating hud pop ups

I know that everybody is busy in this pre-release phase but I also believe that you depend on what your Beta community feeds back. My guess is that you really want us to explore every corner of the application before it goes live and the whole world will start firing messages and questions at the message board. Take for instance a look at the HM2 forums and you will see what I mean. After their commercial release they got swamped by angry and upset people because the application was only tested very superficial.

genher - Here's the basic idea, perhaps this will help. Go to the Cash side of NotTracker and open up the Edit tab. Let's look at a simple note rule - 002 3Bet Preflop Range. Click on the rule to see its definition in the bottom box.

The "Name" is just the name of the note - it only shows up here in NoteTracker. "Category" is what area it shows up with in the Notes window when playing after you click - you can turn categories on and off to make that display simpler. The checkboxes for the games should be fairly self explanatory.

The Text to Insert as Note is what is written as the note - this is what you see at the table. There are some special things you can insert into the Text area called Variables. You can see the full list by clicking the blue Insert Variable link (and insert them from there as well). {cardrange} is the one that is used here. That variable gives you the hole cards each player had when this note is taken.

So the note may end up looking like: 3Bet Range {KK+, AQ+}. The other variables are board cards, so you could do something like: Raised Turn With Air on {board-turn} (just to give you an idea how this might be used).

The Filters area is what does the real work. A hand matches and the note is written when the filters in the Filters area are true. In this particular note, Player has "Raised Preflop Any 3Bet" - so the hand matches whenever Player has done that. (Of course, you won't get the hole cards for opponents when you don't see them.) These filters can be considerably more complex - take a look at some of the other notes and you can see how the filters combine to make that note true. Clicking the Player button will show you the full list of filters active for that rule.

The Opponent button filters for something that some other player must have done. See 051 - 3Bet+ Blind vs Blind Range for an example.

I think the Status page is fairly self explanatory, as should be the Test page - if you have any questions there, please just ask and I'll be glad to elaborate.

Barlin63 - We do try to answer all questions here, even if that means a somewhat lengthy reply (as you can see). I don't know how easy it would be to schedule a webinar, but I can talk to the appropriate person to see if we can make that happen. Again, if you have any specific questions, please do ask.

Any way to export the cash notes then import them for Tournament? When I tried it just imported back into the cash side. Or do I need to just make all of the ones I want for Tournaments?
