Adjusted all-in equity is wrong

Postby mager » Fri Apr 06, 2012 3:39 pm

The Adjusted all-in equity is wrong in most of the pots. I'm not sure what to do about it.
Here is an example of recent hand(left side- the situation, middle- the amount won+the adjusted equity, right- the equity calculation for the situation).

I'm not mistaken, the adjusted stat is not calculated properly in this situation, right? There are many more situation like this.

How can I fix that?

You need to calculate equity separately for the two pots. Only in the one pot is QQ all in with both opponents - in the second (larger) pot you're all-in with just KJ. PT4 should be taking this into account and it's likely the reason why your numbers aren't working out as you expect them to.

No it's not. As I said, it was just an example - almost any equity calculation is wrong.

Here is another quick picture which clearly show how wrong it is:

Can you explain what is wrong with that?
Those numbers match what PokerStove thinks too..

The calculator is correct and I really like that feature(saves time).
What's wrong, as I said, is the "adjusted by all-in equity" stat.

If my equity is 70.8%, then:
59.11*0.78=46.1058$ is my equity in this pot
I won 27.93$ in the pot, so:
46.1058-27.93=18.1758$ is my adjusted by all-in equity

PT4 "adjusted by all-in equity" stat wrote 11.25$ which is just wrong.

You're doing the calculation slightly wrong.

The pot size paid out was (rough calculation based on the bets and your net won, since I don't have the HH) $57.11.
Your equity was 70.8, which is 0.708, not 0.78.
So your equity is:
57.11 * 0.71 = 40.55

You subtract the amount that you bet, not the amount that you won, which is 29.18, for a total of 11.37.
Given rounding issues and possible slight mis-estimations since I don't have the actual HH the figure in PT4 looks right.
