4.01.14 Database update running for ~30h now

Postby franzkovic » Wed Apr 04, 2012 7:31 am

The Database Update is taking forever. Running for around 30hours now without any progress bar. Is this normal? Will the database be corrupted if I close PT4 with the task manager?

I have a related problem. My update got interrupted because of a blackout. When I restarted PT the update didn't resume. Reinstalling the update didn't change anything. But it seems PT is running without problems. So I don't have to be concerned?

How big are your databases? Its still running right now for me and my 2nd db is 14gb big...
Do you have to rebuild cache via the housekeeping menu if you close PT4 before the update is complete?

franzovic:

You can end the process if you need to, the update is transaction safe, but you'll want to roll back to the beta prior until you have time to complete the upgrade then.

ttr:

It's possible the blackout happened in the cache update portion of the update - if so, you'll want to rebuild your cache via the Database Management window when you have the time, as it will make things considerably snappier.

BlackPersion:

Yes, the forums are awesome like that :)

Furo:

Closing PT4 before the update is complete should roll back the update completely as it's all in one transaction.

Something really doesn't sound right here. How much CPU time is postgres.exe using and how much is PokerTracker4.exe using? (You can check via Task Manager on the Processes tab, just make sure you can see processes from all users.)

I have 10 postgres.exe running each with 0 CPU and between 2,800-4,400 RAM. PokerTracker4.exe has 0 CPU and 84,000 RAM. Looks strange :ugeek:
