Database Update

Postby bkkgrinder1 » Mon Apr 02, 2012 7:49 pm

How long does the database update take to finish? It seems like it has been running for over an hour now? What happens if I just kill the process in Task Manager? Will it just finish later or will it corrupt the database?

1.2 million of hands on and its running for an hour for me. However Postgre Server actually read 75GB and wrote 21GB worth of data :).

On my system (i7 / 12GB RAM / 7200rpm HD) it took about 40 minutes for 500k cash hands. It is reorganizing the two largest tables of the database, around 90% of the data, and it's doing it in a transaction so it will definitely take a long time on large databases.

If you kill PT4 with task manager nothing bad will happen. The conversion will be rolled back and you can use the previous beta until you have time to upgrade.
