Installation Problem Database Connect

(sorry for bad english)

on the first start after installation, pt4 cannot connect to my postgres database but i can login via pgadmin.
i start pt4 as admin, of course, and tried all the troubleshooting help (firewall off, pg_hba.conf edit, postmaster.pid delete)

any ideas?

What operating system are you using? Is PostgreSQL installed locally or is it on another server?

Windows XP, PostgreSQL 8.4 is installed locally
hem can access the database with no problems

Please try using the same password as you use for HEM, which is postgrespass by default. If you can connect via PGAdmin and HEM then you should be able to connect with PT4 if you use the same settings.

thats the problem. same settings, correct pw, pgadmin and hem are able to connect but not pt4
i tried reinstallation of pt4 today. it also had no effect. i'm at the end of my wits :(
