Error connecting to default database

Installed / uninstalled and imported all hands few times last couple of days.

Finally get it working and notice that copying some config files over for the HUD does not automatically include the new color ranges that i defined before. i have to select it manually.

Was going to test it but copied 5 files over from old config to new and have the error connecting to darabase again. Pokerstars.cfg was one i copied over.

Can i save this database again without going through install and import all hands again? I overwrote the files that I copied.

What did you uninstall/reinstall? It wasn't PostgreSQL was it?

What were the files that you copied? If you copied the actual files from the Data folder rather than importing HUD profiles or whatever then the settings should be the same.
PokerStars.cfg shouldn't affect anything - that isn't something which has many changes, and isn't changed by anything you do in PT4.

If you overwrote PokerTracker.cfg that could cause problems as it would probably contain (or miss) information about any databases that you changed.
If you have an existing database which isn't currently connected then you can do that from Database Management. Click New and then Browse to Existing Database.
IF you're currently connected to a database which doesn't exist any more you can "Remove" that on the Database Management window too.

i did complete uninstall and reinstall of Pg and Pt4 so today after import finished everything was working fine.

I orginally had a problem with my computer that caused the messaage to appear when no access to internet.

i went brain dead after amount of hours and instead of doing HUD import like you mentioned i copied these 5 files over:


PokerTracker.cfg

ColorRanges.cfg

GuiSettings.cfg

PokerTracker.dat.dat

RateInfo.dat.dat

i saved the HUD changes while testing the color and saw that these files were updated so i copied the old files from my config over.

Can i save the database or complete install / import again?

If i bring up PT4, the error comes up and it shows the new database faded along with PT4 DB being faded too.

It allowed me to create a new DB and when i reboot PT4 it loads up new DB thats empty. Go into database mgt and i see original there but when i try to set it as default or active it says to select a valid database.

I don't know for sure, but I think that the ColorRanges.cfg file probably only holds any saved color ranges, not which ranges are applied to which stats. That would be part of the HUD Profile, so just copying those files wouldn't save any HUD configuration.

Making changes to PT4 and the config files shouldn't affect the databases, other than the PokerTracker.cfg could mean that PT4 is not looking at the correct databases. Are you sure the databases you're connected to are the same ones you were using before you made changes?
..and you didn't make any changes to PostgreSQL itself?

It does sound like you may need to import to a new database if the existing databases are reported as invalid, but I'm not sure what would have caused that.
