Purge results in PT4 (Not Responding)

Postby DaveyR78 » Tue Mar 06, 2012 6:41 am

Hi

When I try to purge a number of tournaments, PT4 freezes and I have to close it down using task manager.

I'm using windows 7 home edition incase you need to know that.

Any other info let me know.

Thanks

How long did you let the purge run? Sometimes when doing resource intensive database functions (like purging) things can appear to be hung when in fact they are working fine.

That's what i found too.

Reboot cpu and try purging only one small tourney and watch the HD access light to see if is being accessed at all.

Have a beer or two before you shut it down although beta versions usually require three beers before you close the application. Main reason why i enjoy beta testing.

I purged some cash sessions yesterday from my FT days, not a lot of them, and it took more than an hour. I did it with Pt3 but i dont think it matters since postgres is doing the purging. Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong :)
Watch the cpu usage of postgres in your task manager while you purge those tourneys. It should be busy, so dont kill the task.

Hi I left the purge running for about 20mins.

But it did actually come up with not responding in the top bar in brackets like windows does on other programs.

I also checked task manager on windows and it said PT4 was not responding.

Thanks

How much data are you purging? A large purge in a large database could well take longer than that, and PT4 will look like it is not responding during that time.
