Various errors and bugs

Postby Erlebnis » Mon Feb 06, 2012 5:19 pm

1) quite often my notetracker ceases to work during sessions. Actually, it's been happening every session. It still shows the notes on tooltip but nothing happens if I click on the note icon.

2) All my windows are opening in a third screen (that does not exist). I'm trying to do a session review now and it's quite annoying that every hand I click the replayer pops up on an unexisting monitor (then I have to use the right-click on taskbar/move/arrow/mouse to bring it back). Then I want to check hand details (especially since you didn't include a button to copy the hh from the replayer) and there the hand deails pops up outside BOTH the monitors area.

3) Import is OFF. I was just trying to do a session review (like said, not very successfully) and when I clicked on "more filters" poker tracker hanged. Again. It's been frozen there since I started to type here, likely I'll have to bring taskbar to shut it. Again.

4) Super often my "info box" disappears when looking at tournament's graphs.

5) Now not a bug but a request: it would be nice to have in the "general result (cash+tourney)" the ability to at least filter per date. I was wanting to look at it for just this year but couldn't find it.

I believe I have sent you my log files again after creating a new database and importing a few hands. If not, or if you can't find it, please let me know. If you need new logs, let me know too.

Sigh.

Do you have a third screen which isn't currently connected but was when you last used PT4?

If you have any crashes or freezes please do send us the new log files so that we can see what has happened - I haven't seen many problems like these reported so having your logs will help us see what is going on for you.

If you have an open ticket please bear with us as we have a large volume of support requests currently with the expansion of the beta program, but we will get to you as soon as possible. If you have new information please add it to your ticket, but otherwise I'd suggest that you do not reply to it as we answer tickets in time order and replying makes it appear more recent.

Hi.

No, I don't have a third screen.

As far as tickets are concerned, afaik I have at least 3. But it might be more.

I've been having loads of crashes and freezes. Plus the bugs mentioned, and many others.

Now this doesn't look good:

Etc. etc.

Should I open a new ticket or send my log to an open one?

Plus, are thsoe hands "lost"? Are they moved to the processed or not?

Hmm - that's really odd. Are the windows popping up to the right of your second screen? (i.e. you need to move them left to bring them into view)
Whenever we've seen something like this before it has been because the windows pop up in the position they were used in last time, and then the screen isn't connect this time.

If this is a separate issue please open a separate ticket - it's much easier to deal with one issue per ticket. Please bear with us, we have a large volume of support requests with the expansion of the beta program. We appreciate all reports, and we will process them all but it is taking us longer than we'd like.

The hands are not lost - the files are moved to the 'Processed' folder. Please attach one of the files which gives this error to a new ticket (unless you already have an open ticket about this particular issue) and we'll check out why you get that error.
Thanks.

Done. ticket_id=118231.

The windows are popping up off the top left of my main monitor. Shutting down and reloading PT4 solves it but thus far I couldn't find what causes it.

One thing: Under my Windows Control Panel I could see my Postgre is simply 100Gb large now. That's insane. I have a few databases created; the "main" one could have some 400,000 hands or so. All the others are quite small (below 10k hands each).

Is it normal this thing is taking 100Gb from my hard disk??

Not for an amount of data that small - take a look in the C:\Program Files (x86)\PostgreSQL\8.x\data\pg_log folder (where 8.x is your version number - if you're on 9.0 you'll see 9.0 there). Data in that folder can be safely deleted - if you increased logging for any reasons those logs can get very large very quickly.

8.3 is my version apparently.

The log folder had "only" 2.3 Gb. It's gone by now but we have ~95Gb to go... :?

Have you imported and deleted data from your database routinely?

hmmm... sorry, I don't know exactly how to answer this.

Yes, I have imported on a dayly basis, i.e. every time I play...

I haven't ever deleted data from a database to be honest. First time I did it was quite recently due to the Stars hh bug. I deleted that day only and reimported the hands. That was it.

I'm feeling like creating a new Windows user for playing poker only. That would allow me to load even less TSR programs all around, and even leave all auto updates (antivirus, windows etc.) off.

Do you recommend it? How do I do it?

So far I think I have to uninstall *all* poker related software (including PT4) and then reinstall 1 by 1 under the new user's profile. I'm holding this for 2 reasons:

1) I'll lose my settings/personalizations on most poker clients I think';

2) the time PT4 takes to get all set back again.

Anyway, as I'm having database problems I don't think backing up my databases would be enough/good. So I think the "ideal" course of action would be to uninstall everything INCLUDING Posgre, then installing it fresh under new user and creating a new database; then I could reimport all "original" hh from the "processed" folder, right? Then I'd just have to backup all settings/HUDs/reports/custom stats etc.

Sounds like A LOT of hassle but might be good long run. I don't know yet... what do you think? Could that help?

Well I'm trying to figure out what is taking up all of that space - if you did a lot of importing and purging it's possible that a VACUUM FULL would help reclaim some space but it doesn't sound like that is going to be the main culprit here.

You never said - how many actual databases do you have?
