Tournament suggestions/bugs

Postby random » Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:31 pm

Here's a few things that I think are missing or are bothering me:

1) 1st of all, not sure why but after few 100 tournaments played, the tabs in tournament section all became super slow (more than 30 seconds for each tab). Looks like postgres is using alot of cpu while this is happening. This becomes very obvious if I go to Sort by date, then double click on a date and this filter really occupies postgres and cpu. Considering I only have 400 tournaments imported I would expect PT4 to breeze through this.

2) I know this is configurable, but I would think ROI should get a spot on most of the tabs(reports) by default right next to ITM

3) Replay tournament! I would like to be able to right click a tournament and have "Replay (all hands in ) tournament" avaiable. As it is we have to double click to open hands, then change to show all instead of recent 100 hands. Then we have to sort by time backwards, and finally select all and click replay.

4) "Replay hands" when we right click with multiple hands should be called "Replay selected hands"

5) Now replayer itself: easier moving between hands would be appreciated. If arrows keys up/down controlled next/previous hands this would negate the problem somewhat. Also player names in the replayer itself as well as equity next to it are really tiny. When default hud pops up next to them it looks ridiculous with its super small fonts. Would be nice to see some unity between default HUD and default theme.

6) Tournament Player list - I would like to see list of players who played in selected tournament, with their VPIP and PFR for example as well as notes/icon. That way it would be easier to find out when the games are better and to see who the regulars are etc.

7) Importing tournament after they are played (when we play without PT4 running). On Stars for example there are summary and hh files in different folders, are we supposed to import twice ? Right now I just use "Get hands while playing" instead, since I know it imports from both folders, but this takes longer. Would be nice if there was a button, something like "Catch up", that would put PT4 "Get hands while playing" in high speed mode (same as get hands from files) and import all the HHs we played before we started PT4.

8) Bug: when we are in Tournaments section>Results or Statistics, if we switch over from Tournament to Places or Hands, ROI and ITM checkboxes stay on top right and they dont really do anything on these tabs as they control Graph on "Tournament" tab.

Some good suggestions here. Especially 3,4 and 5.

(1) Yes it should - tournament support will have significant bug fixes in the upcoming beta. After we release it and you update, please follow up and let me know if you're still experiencing significant slowdowns.

(2) It does on all Results --> Advanced reports. Statistics are for details at the hand level - results are for details at the tournament level.

(3) Have you tried looking at the Summary reports? If you choose Summary with grouping by Tournament it'll get rid of a lot of that clicking for you.

(4) What about "Replay Hands" rather than "Replay Hand" (as it shows when just one hand is selected) is unclear?

(5) ctrl+right and ctrl+left moves forward and backward one hand, respectively.

(6) This should certainly be doable in a custom report - have you looked at our new custom report interface in PT4?

(7) You could do this via the Setup Assistant (under Tools) in the Configure Sites section - running it on PokerStars in step 3 will import and move all hands much more rapidly than getting hands while playing.

(8) These boxes only make sense on that graph but due to the way the user interface is created the boxes won't disappear when you choose a different graph type. I'll discuss this with the development team but I'm not certain there's much we can do about this issue.

2) Is ROI not a basic stat as they come when we talk tournaments? Should be on every basic report by default if you ask me.

3)Having to go to different section, and then having to use filters to find the exact tournament makes it overall more complicated and doesnt really solve the problem.

4)If user sees "Replay selected hand(s)" it 100% clear what you are gonna replay. As it is right now I dont find it to work as expected.

6)Sure I looked, clicked new report, selected player type instead of hands and well thats where I got stuck. Also I have a feeling I will have to manually filter for every single tournament if I wanted to do this, which sounds like a huge pain when you play 100+ tournaments a day. My suggestion was supposed to work in 2 clicks (right click and select in menu).

8)Hopefully you wont add more checkboxes for Places or Hands or you will have 5 checkboxes and a guessing game which checkbox works on which tab. :P

1,5,7) Thx I will check those out, should make things easier.

Another suggestion, probably a bit complicated to implement but would be super cool IMO.
Say we are in Tournament tab, sorted by Description. I would like to see option to draw winnings from all different types of tournaments on the graph, each type with different color.
Same should apply if we switch to sort by buy-in, but in that case only ROI can be compared really I guess.

(2) For serious players I absolutely agree, but for users starting out this is not a mathematically simple concept. Either way it belongs in Results not in Statistics though. (Though of course you can add it wherever you want, and it will stay wherever you add it, once it is added.)

(4) What behavior did you expect?

(6) Hm, I see your point. That gives me an idea though, and I'll see what I can do on that one.

(8) I'm not aware of plans to add more checkboxes there.

And that is an interesting graph suggestion as well. That one you could do with custom statistics and the Graphs page but a built in option would definitely be nice.

I installed v4.01.6 beta, and made new db and reimported hhs. Here is my updated experience.

1)About "Selected"; default behaviour in Windows that I experienced is that once you make a selection, all commands from right-click menu will only affect the selection. In your case you have "Replay Hands " and "Replay All Hands". I would expect both to replay all selected hands, since thats what they say. In your case only one is affected by selection, I think you should make it obvious and add "Selected" to it.

2)Checkboxes: I see you already added another checkbox, called [] ADJ. I would prefer it if was called EV but that's just nitpicking. Here is the real problem now. If you move to Hands tab, this is where adjusted line could actually also be used. Data is already in PT4 since we can see EV adjusted winnings for every hand in tournament.

3) Performance: Loading times are still very bad, I dont find PT4 usable to browse through tournaments at this time because of such slow loading times. :( Looks like "by Date" is affected the most, other tabs work reasonably fast.

4) Bugs in appereance. Because you "fixed" few stats, there are some issues with display of tournaments:
a) If we use by Date, tournaments get sorted into buyins, which is not what by Date is supposed to do. (Looks like problem is in My C Buy-In)
[ img ]

b) sort by Description.. some descriptions are duplicates.

5) Few times when I used double click to filter into a section, I found a tournament that didnt belong there. After double clicking it to see details, it showed query error. (As expected, since it couldnt find details of .xx buy-in tournament when I was filtering for .yy buyin)

We're looking into the bugs now and I'll let you know where things stand once I know more.
