Fresh installation

Postby BigSlick0977 » Wed Dec 18, 2024 3:10 pm

I'm planning on removing PT4 from my Mac laptop and installing again from scratch. Am I safe to just delete everything associated with it or do I need to leave some of the files?

If you don't want to lose any of your current poker data/settings then you should create a backup file before you delete/uninstall anything:

I think I'd just rather start a fresh database. There are still folders associated to PT4 and other system files. I just need to know if it's safe to just delete them all.

You can create a new database and start fresh without uninstalling anything:

What do you mean by "other system files"? I wouldn't recommend deleting anything that isn't associated with PokerTracker 4 unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing. With regards to PokerTracker 4 all your original hand history files get archived:

Guide: Processed Files

If you delete the folder containing those hands when you wouldn't be able to import from them in future.

pgAdmin4, SQL Shell, etc. The files that come with installing PT4. I'm trying to clean my computer of unnecessary files and I assumed many of these files would have been updated, so I was going to do a completely fresh install.

If you want to completely remove PostgreSQL from your Mac then we have a guide for that here:

Guide: Uninstalling PostgreSQL

and there is a guide for reinstalling PostgreSQL here:

I've entered all of those commands and entered them again for Postgres 9.6, but the applications and/or shortcuts are still visible after restarting the machine.

Please open a Support Ticket including a screenshot of your terminal window with the commands you have run.
