Database issues

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here, so I hope I’m doing it in the correct part of the forum.

I have an issue with the database. When I updated to the new version 4.18.4, I was supposed to do a backup or something like that. I did it, but now it says that my database is corrupted.

I've tried everything, and I can't get it to work. I no longer want to recover the old data since it was from MTTs, and I’m currently playing cash games.

I tried creating a new database, but I still see some old data, and it doesn’t track any new hands. I keep getting this message:

"Error: Unable to begin feeder import process. Reason: PokerTracker is configured to import into an outdated database. This must be corrected before an import can succeed."

I know I probably didn’t explain it very well since my English isn’t great, but basically, I’d like to "reset" PT4 and start fresh. If possible, I’d like to know how to delete the old data or at least get it working.

Thank you very much, and I apologize if I didn’t explain myself clearly.

Best regards to all!

In PokerTracker 4 select 'Configure -> Site & Import Options -> Preferences' and make sure the 'Databases' boxes both have 'Current Active Database' in them and that should resolve this error.

Thanks very much, Unfortunately this could not solve the error, another thing that does not help is that I do not know how to upload a screenshot of PT4 so that it is easier for you to know what is really happening. I'm almost sure it must be something simple but I don't know how to solve it. Isn't there a way to completely "reset" PT4 and start from scratch?

That would have resolved the first error you mentioned in your first post but this is a different error. That second error in your screenshot only happens with very old PostgreSQL versions such as v8.4 which reached its end-of-life in 2014 and is below the minimum required version for PokerTracker 4. To fix that issue you will need to install and use PostgreSQL version v16 - see this guide:

I have the same problem since 2 days ago because I cancelled the maintanance for firste time, I can´t belive the numbers of crashes I´m suffering since that. I couldn´t still use v17.4 of PT4 because now I´m obligated to use "just the last one". Freaking awesome.

¿Have I to instal the PostgreSQL v16.8 or is better to install the lastest version? (17.4)

I tried to add an screenshot but the 1955 forum format prevent me to doing it.

I´m really on tilt with this situation because I´ve paid this program many years ago and the update 2 years ago plus the Maintanance the last year, and the first time I don´t, and with an old version of PT4 without doing any updates since 9 months, now I´m in limited to this "lastest version" who makes my database crash:

And the MTT that I had to bust on my early session because of it.

Sorry guys, you don´t have any fault on it.

Thanks in advance

If you are getting the error message that says "column some_time does not exist" then you are using an old version PostgreSQL version such as v8.4 which reached its end-of-life in 2014 and is now below the minimum required version for PokerTracker 4. To fix the issue you will need to install and use PostgreSQL version v16 - see this guide:

You are not obligated to use the latest version of PokerTracker 4 but it is recommended. If you want to continue using an old version of PostgreSQL such as v8.4 you would need to revert to an earlier version of PokerTracker 4 - check your PMs.

PostgreSQL v16 since PokerTracker 4 supports up to this version. PokerTracker 4 does not support PostgreSQL v17.

You should be able to attach .png screenshots:

I said "I guess" because I´ve had installed v.16 of SQL and then the Backup, BUT it´s still "running" since yesterday 20pm CET (23hs now....)

But another MTT Reg told me that he had to wait 17hs in the past, so I guess it´s near to finish.

Thanks again, if I have any other trouble I will tell you.

It it's still backing up or restoring processed files you can safely cancel it and restart the backup or restore with 'Processed Hands' unchecked and it should proceed much faster. Processed hands are not required for your database to backup or restore - they are the original hand history files from your poker site and will already be on your computer so while backing them up is fine there wouldn't be any point restoring them.
