Cant start pt4

Postby kaniel » Mon Mar 18, 2024 12:22 am

Hello, recently thought my laptop had a virus so was deleting a lot of stuff and think i deleted the postgres thing, which messed up my pt3. I've tried reinstalling pt4 itself aswell as tried downloading postgres itself which was quite complex as there were lots of settings etc and not even sure it was the correct one, anyway i couldnt get pt4 working.

After trying that continued getting the same "This server is not responding to connection attempts. Please restart the PostgreSQL service, then PokerTracker and try again." then when clicking configure defaults with the port setting etc i click connect and get "Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration". I am the opposite of tech savvy so sorry if this isnt very well explained but if anyone could help me out, preferably in laymans terms i would be greatful as i like pt4 for tracking my hhs to review :)

What version of PostgreSQL did you install? PokerTracker 4 doesn't support anything higher than PostgreSQL v12. Uninstall whatever PostgreSQL version you installed and then download and installing PostgreSQL v12 from here and for the two password boxes use 'dbpass' (no quotes) which is what PokerTracker 4 uses by default and the install should default to port 5432. When installing PostgreSQL you can also turn off the 'Stack Builder' option. At the end of the PostgreSQL install it will say if it installed successfully or not. If it installs successfully then try starting PokerTracker 4 again. If the PostgreSQL install does not complete successfully then in Windows open File Explorer and enter the following in the address bar:

%localappdata%\Temp

In this folder there should be a file called 'install-postgresql.log' - please attach that file to a Support Ticket.
