The Big Blind faces one limper in a four handed game. How can we determine whether the limper is the cutoff, the button, or the SB?

So there's no way to tell if, say, the BB raised an SB limper as opposed to any other limper (in a hand with more than two players)?

You can tell specifically if the BB raised an SB limper (by the pot size) - but you can't tell the difference between a hand where there is one limper in the CO vs one limper in EP vs one limper on the Button.

three handed at the river. the hero was a caller on the turn and is first to act. obviously the aggressor on the turn has position on the hero. but can we tell if the aggressor has position on the third player? (with the exception of the case where the position of the aggressor is 0.)

No, we can only know the position of the active player and the aggressor.

So you're saying there's a way to see the current size of the pot each time it is the hero's turn to act?

Not exactly - if the player raises you can compare the absolute size of the raise made to the size of the raise relative to the pot.
