Importing to PostgreSQL

Postby 2Lillies » Thu Jul 15, 2010 3:41 pm

Hello,

How does PT3 populate the PostgreSQL tables?
Specifically: holdem_hand_histories table in PT3?
More Specifically: how does PT3 fit the entire hand history text into a single field?

Is it maybe a COPY or pg_readfile situation? Does the raw text get parsed first?

Much appreciation for any leads,

The holdem_hand_histories table just stores the plain test of the hand history.
The text is parsed first and the other database fields populated, and the text is stored for reference - it is used in the Replayer and if you want to export hands later, but not for generating stats. I don't know the exact mechanics of how the table is populated, though.

OK, thanks. That helps. The exact mechanics of how the data is parsed and plugged into the tables does happen to be what I am after. So if anyone can contribute something to that effect, please do.

If you enable logging (see the tutorial) you can see the queries which are used to read and write the database in the PokerTracker 3\PokerTracker.log file.
