multiple instances of pokertracker.exe and postgrel.exe

Postby tripp789 » Sat May 24, 2008 1:11 am

When I start PT3 i get 2 pokertracker.exe and 12 postgrel.exe processes running at one time, stessing my system and delaying the FTP program, sounds, etc. If I turn the HUD off it runs smoother. Once HUD is started again it slows down drastically again. As a result HUD is useless and annoying to say the least.

Noticed that this happened at about the same time I downloaded XP service pack 3. Don't know if it's related or not.

Is running multiple processes normal?

Yes it is. Kinda strange I know, but this is normal.

So there is no way to improve performance on this computer? HUD will always be unusable? This is a relatively new laptop with duo core processor.

As I said, performance was not an issue until I downloaded SP3. Until then everything ran OK.

I'll need to go back to PT2 if tis doesn't get resolved, and if SP3 is involved a lot of other people will as well.

The next release will have some extensive HUD performance improvements and will hopefully resolve your issues.

I'll just piggyback on this thread. How about this:
[ img ]

Like 1 out of 3 of those has the name w/ Table Cover in it, the rest are blank. My PT3 runs horrid w/ HUD running.

Edit: I was playing 12+ tables at a time, but I think I counted a couple more on these instances than tables. Maybe it keeps running when for an old table when I leave?

If the sound issue you mention includes the sound totally cutting out -- that is a FTP problem and not a PT3 problem. It took me a while to narrow it down, but a search on 2+2 confirmed it. If this is happening to you, play a song in winamp on repeat -- for whatever reason this keeps FTP from killing your sound.

There are problems with the HUD for some users in Build 2, a new build will be out within a few days which should fix this.
