vs Player in 3Bet pot

Postby Tolp » Tue Apr 19, 2011 5:49 pm

Today I toyed a little bit with filters of PT3. I tried to find a way to get PT3 to show me all 3bet pots I played against a certain villain. Using the 3Bet Preflop Filter (under Actions) and going to the vs. player tab didn’t give me the desired results.
So what do I have to do to see how I did against a certain player, who raised first in preflop and I 3betted him? (It would be nice to get a list of all these hands to review them).

Any help would be appreciated!
Thx!

You will need to use a custom report - have a look at this thread to get started. If you want to see all hands you'll need to be in the Holdem Cash Hands (or whichever game-type Hands) section, and select the player you're interested in from the Player List. The actions in the filter refer to you, and you can filter for the selected players actions using normal "simple filters". For instance to filter for your 3-bet you would use: hhps.flg_p_3bet.

Thx for the reply!
I went through the links you gave me, but I’m not really sure how to proceed.

I’m trying to analyze how one exact opponent is playing 3bet pots against me and therefore I need a list with all hands he called my 3bets and a list with all hands I called his 3bets. Preferably divided in oop/ip 3bets and oop/ip calls for both him and me. I thought such a list would be easy to come up with (because it’s the bread and butter for analyzing an opponents game), but searching the forums, the internet and the custom report section didn’t help much, which surprised me. I’m sure PT3 can do all these things, but I’m a little disappointed that such basic stuff (maybe it’s not basic at all!?) requires to study custom report guides for many hours. A friend of mine (who uses Hold Manager) is able to produce such a list with inbuilt filters in under one minute and I hoped it would equally easy to do so in PT3.

So this is what I did so far:
I downloaded the Preflop 3bet Hand Custom Report. With this report I was able to get all the hands the player, who is selected in the player list, did 3bet. Additionally I managed to filter these hands (by using simple filters) to all hands that saw a flop. That’s something, but still far from the list I want to achieve…

If you want to filter to hands you opened with you can add the following custom filter in the blue Filters link in your report:

holdem_hand_player_statistics.id_hand in (SELECT hhps.id_hand from holdem_hand_player_statistics hhps where hhps.id_player = (SELECT setting_value::int from settings where setting_name = 'my_player_id') AND hhps.flg_p_first_raise)

You can change it so that you had to have done something else by editing the bold bit as you desire.

Thx kraada.
I added the whole line into the filters link, but now the report doesn't show me any hands at all. Probably because the active player cannot raise first in and 3bet preflop. (The 3bet Preflop custom report I downloaded includes this filter: flg_p_3bet = true.)

Do filters in a custom report always have to refer to the active player? Isn't it possible to make a filter that does the following: Show all hands I raise first in, which villian (not any villian but exactly the one villian I specify) 3bets and vice versa.
That's what I'm looking for. I think I can filter ip/oop with simple filters then, can I?

Did you set your own player name via the Settings window?

I should also have mentioned - use the filter exactly as typed. Changing 'my_player_id' will actually break the filter.

The filter I've given you filters to all hands that hero open raised - you wanted times you open raised and he 3-bet you. Use Simple Filters for the 3-bet (that always refers to the active player) then this additional filter to times you made the open - and it should work properly. You can then use IP/OOP as you wish also.

I did set villain as active player and I did copy the filter as provided.
Unfortunately the report doesn't show me any hands as soon as I use the simple filter “action/ 3bet.” I have no idea, why it’s not working.

Even more interesting for me than his 3bets would the hands in which he called my 3bets.

There is a subtle typo in kraada's filter:
kraada wrote:holdem_hand_player_statistics.id_hand in (SELECT hhps.id_hand from holdem_hand_player_statistics hhps where hhps.id_player = (SELECT setting_value::int from settings where setting_name = 'my_player_id') AND holdem_hand_player_statistics.flg_p_first_raise)

It needs to be:

holdem_hand_player_statistics.id_hand in (SELECT hhps.id_hand from holdem_hand_player_statistics hhps where hhps.id_player = (SELECT setting_value::int from settings where setting_name = 'my_player_id') AND hhps.flg_p_first_raise)

That filter will include hands where "you" (whatever you set "My Name Is" to in the Settings Window) made the first raise. If you change it to:

holdem_hand_player_statistics.id_hand in (SELECT hhps.id_hand from holdem_hand_player_statistics hhps where hhps.id_player = (SELECT setting_value::int from settings where setting_name = 'my_player_id') AND hhps.flg_p_3bet)

..then it will include hands where you made a 3-bet instead.

Now, if you select your villain in the Player List it will show all of that villain's hands where you 3-bet.
If you want to see only hands in which that villain made the first raise you can add that as a simple filter (by clicking the blue filters link and then Simple Filters). You can also add a filter for them calling a 3-bet if that is what you want to see.

Thanks WhiteRider - I've updated the original post to eliminate the typo.
